Round 1

Interstate Shootout

The Interstate Shootout marked the opening of the Hare Scramble series. Racing took place at Mike Brown’s I-81 Motorsports Park near Greenville, Tennessee. The rain held off, which is fortunate, as the rolling hills of eastern Tennessee are technical even in dry conditions. Youth racing kicked off Sunday’s activities, with the adults following later that day.

The course was a mixture of fast single track, wide GNCC style trail, and some top notch grass track. However, big hills, rocks, and slick hard pack added a technical aspect, which slowed things down. The grass track might have been the most fun aspect of the course. It was similar to a cross test and contributed to a mile to two miles of racing. The grass track was well laid out and really let riders open their bikes up for head to head racing.

Tennessee’s own Hunter Shelton took the overall win with Bolton Beroth in 2nd place. Brock Miller was the top A rider and finished 3rd overall. The results have been posted if you want to see more scores from the day. We go back to Tennessee on November 18th for the next hare scramble at the Volunteer Hare Scramble. Racing on a Husky 125, Hunter was in 2nd most of the day but took the lead on the last lap.
