Change Enduro/Hare Scramble Season

A suggestion was made to change the Season from September to June, to a calendar year.  The thought was this could potentially benefit contingency money, due to manufacturer’s budgets being based on a calendar year.  It could also allow the races to be spread out over more months in the year.

 

Motion to leave the season as is.

 

Motion was passed.

 

Primary reasons for leaving as is:

-                      The way the season runs now allows a break during the summer, this would not allow a break during those months.  There was concern regarding the heat and family vacations.

-                      Would need to close the season out in November, in order to allow time for banquet.

-                      Cost of banquet could be more costly in December.

-                      If done it would require either a long or short Season.  This could potentially cause major problems in determining points.  Some of the races would not be able to count toward points.

-                      SETRA is the premier group for Regionals.  Everyone in the country is trying to get manufacturer’s products at the end of the year.  We would be competing for the products. 

-                      One Manufacturer had said they preferred the way SETRA has their schedule because the Manufacturers were winding down for the season during the months of November and December.

-                      The schedule of the current Season did not appear to be a problem.

 

 

SETRA Magazine

A suggestion was submitted to do away with the SETRA magazine.  It could mean either entirely doing away with the magazine or possibly moving more to the Forum website.

 

Motion to form a committee to look at the magazine and come up with recommendation on what should be done for the 2008 / 2009 season.  The committee could possibly come up with more than one option.  The committee is to present their recommendation/s in the Board Meeting before the 2008 SETRA banquet.

Hare Scrambles

Concern regarding the number of Hare Scrambles and the reduction in riders at some of them. 

 

Motion to form a committee to look at the Hare Scrambles and come up with recommendation on what should be done for the 2008 / 2009 season.  The committee could possibly come up with more than one option.  The committee is to present their recommendation/s in the Board Meeting before the 2008 SETRA banquet.

One Day Entry Fee (Enduros and Hare Scrambles)

Suggestion to allow a one day entry fee for those riders who want to race one or two races.  Number one complaint has been the cost to enter one race.  

 

Motion to trial in two Hare Scrambles, Long Cane and Cracker.  This needs to be clearly noted on the Forum.  Guidelines:

SETRA One Day $5.00 (AMA membership would still be required) No SETRA Points

Trophies at Promoter Discretion

Class would be Heavy/Light trail or A/AA if rider so desires

Rent Transponders

Use Existing Form and Write One Day on the form

Knowing Who the Course Workers Are

Suggestion to have vests purchased for course workers. 

 

Motion to suggest to the promoters to purchase vests for the course workers.

 

Motion Passed.

 

 

Children At the Races

Suggestion for guidelines to prevent children from pit riding and/or racing.

 

Motion, to have rule of “No unsupervised children playing,No pit or dangerous riding and/or racing on motorized vehicles. (examples: riding over 5 miles an hour, riding without a helmet, to many riders on a motorized vehicle, riding while intoxicated)  If found doing so, you are subject to disqualification and or expulsion.  This pertains to both the rider and responsible adult/s.  Compliance will be enforced by Promoters and SETRA officials”.

 

This also needs to be noted on the SETRA Forum, Georgia Offroad Forum and included on all Promoter flyers.

It is up to the discretion of the Promoter to also put up signs.

This should be a rule and not a guideline.
